The first phase of works are underway thanks to fundraising appeal

Photograph taken during ground floor strip out

It gives us great pleasure to update you all that the first phase of works are underway thanks to last years Crowdfunder and The #ArchitecturalHeritageFund Grant!

The support that you gave us during last year’s fundraising appeal was absolutely phenomenal and especially appreciated during such a difficult time for us all. Towards the end of the campaign Actor Ceallach Spellman also helped by adding his support to the project and in total you helped to raise a fantastic £9,672, which was then 100% match funded by Architectural Heritage Fund, taking the grand total up to £19,344.

Before works were able to commence local company, UK Restoration Services volunteered to help us, by making and installing a new door that was fundamental to ensuring safe access so that emergency roof repair works could begin and stop any further water ingress damage to the building. Alongside the urgent roof repair works the ground floor of the auditorium has now been stripped back to the original concrete floor (as pictured below) and cleared of any false flooring installed during the Bingo era of the Burnley Empire days.

This work has helped to save the historic building. Thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraising appeal last year and The Architectural Heritage Fund from everyone at Burnley Empire Trust.
